Celebrating in Cairo and Alexandria
EGYPT - Cairo and Alexandria SPARE / EFAW / Veterinary University of Cairo As the Egyptian Ambassador of World Animal Day, I would like to announce that a celebration will be held at the Veterinary University of Cairo on October 4th 2010. It is with great pleasure that we announce that this year, for the first time, the Egyptian Federation for Animal Welfare organisations headed by Dr Shehab Abdel-Hamied will participate in the celebration of the animals of our world. I would like to take this occasion to invite all interested animal activists and animal organizations to join us in celebrating World Animal Day at the veterinary university of Cairo and also in Alexandria with the new animal welfare organisation "ANIMAL AID ALEXANDRIA " For those of you who are interested in participating, please email me for further details. If for any reason you are unable to join us in this celebration, please celebrate and remember the animals on October 4th in whatever manner and venue you find suitable. The more of us celebrating this day, the more exposure and impact we will have in the public perception towards World Animal Day and its purpose. Thank you all for your efforts in helping our fellow non-human animals. Let's make this day a memorable day for them! Worldwide Campaign calling for Stricter Laws Against Animal Abuse

We have from now until World Animal Day to collect at least 10,000 signatures in each participating country – at least this number of signatures are needed for Governments to sit up and take notice! On Sunday 3rd October, all participants are asked to hold a petition stand in their town to collect final signatures. Petition signatures will then be presented to Governments worldwide. At the time of writing, there were already 129 cities around the globe participating in this ‘group campaign’ - We are the Animals’ Voice! Celebrating World Animal Day together in Egypt
EGYPT AWARE Dear Amina, I believe your idea for all the animal welfare organizations to unite and celebrate World Animal Day is an exemplary action and should be appreciated. As the AWARE president we are ready and happy to cooperate with you in celebrating World Animal Day and we hope it will be a memorable event similar to the pig cull campaign that attracted media attention and public sympathy to the plight of the animals. The Pharoanic theme is an inspiring idea and definitely our history is full of many teachings that promote animal respect and responsibility. We will keep you updated with our plans and how we can get engaged. Thank you and best wishes. Ahmed Diab, President, Animal Welfare Association for Research and Education.
Message to Egyptian Animal Advocates
EGYPT Amina Abaza - World Animal Day Ambassador Dear All, It is time to prepare ourselves for World Animal Day. As Egypt's Ambassador, I am inviting you all to participate in this event. Let us put our differences aside and instead put together ideas about how we will celebrate this event in 2010. We want this day to deliver a strong message to attract the media so our story will reach the majority of Egyptians and encourage more people to celebrate it - just as more and more people are celebrating St. Valentines Day in Egypt. I look forward to hearing your ideas, your energy, your creation...We want it to be the best World Animal Day in the world. I propose that we use a pharaonic theme taken our past and remind the Egyptians how the animals were revered in Egyptian history. What do you think? If you have other ideas please send them to me. I would be really happy if everyone expresses their love of animals by getting involved this year. Let us celebrate this day with enthusiasm, love, and dedication - after alll, if we succeed, the animals will be the winners!!
