AIMS / MISSION STATEMENT:

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean.
But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”

Mother Teresa of Calcutta

World Animal Day represents thousands of drops in that big ocean striving together to bring  awareness to the people of the world the important roles animals play in our lives. Whether it is our adorable cat or faithful dog or the Siberian Tiger or Polar Bear...we are all connected in the Web of Life.

Animals share the same feelings as man, yet some see them only as dumb animals incapable of emotion. Yet our faithful pets stand by us never complaining and forever giving unconditional love.  Some would abandon their pet at the side of a road without a care, and drive off leaving it dazed and terrified. Illegal importation of puppies  --  not one or two but hundreds  --  in conditions that few survive, is on the rise.

Our animals have proved their valor and courage in war and legal enforcement. They are helpers to the disabled, therapy for the elderly, and pet therapy for children with special problems.

World Animal Day is celebrated in many forms...from fantastic dog and cat shows... to visiting schools and showing children the importance of respecting our animal neighbors. For indeed they are our neighbors, and as such we must all learn to get along. Awareness is the word for the day..with hope that it will lead to awareness every day.

There's a lot of work ahead. As Confucius said....A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Are you ready to take that first step? I envisage a fantastic World Animal Day this year and great projects for Italy.

I am available to discuss any ideas you may have to mark World Animal Day, so please feel free to contact me.

Judith Shahverdian, WAD Ambassador to Italy
and Captain Bootsie Bear and His Fearless Crew....

Never preaching, always teaching, my darling black fuzz covered space travelers carry a message that all future generations caring for our planet should heed. “We are the caretakers and so we'd better get it together soon!" or as Commander Ralph says, "Nowhere else can you get a gift like this. What you do today affects tomorrow."

To follow our progress and to learn more about the efforts of Captain Bootsie and the Crew visit our website: www.cptbootsiesmagictimemachine.com

See you at World Animal Day!

"I have a great love and respect for all animals. I love to light the fires of imagination and encourage others to learn more about their world. My time travellers are the best ambassadors in our corner. With more than half a million visitors a month to the website, they are quite influential and an important factor in bringing awareness to the plight of animals.

I realise my approach is quite different with regards to conventional norms, but it this deviation from the conventional that brings awareness to issues that are important. I also intend incorporating a WAD page into my website with Captain Bootsie and the Crew adding their input, progress to projects in development, encouraging participation, videos. That is the reason I have included my website on this page. It will help us all get the message across."
