Monde Animal En Passion - MAEP (in English 'Passion for all Animals'), is currently the only animal welfare organization in Cote d’Ivoire.
MAEP was created in Cote d’Ivoire on February 6th, 2000 and declared on March 8th 2000 under the file N0 0319 in the prefecture of Abidjan by Yao Kouassi Stéphane Novalis, who was at that time a young student in life science in the university of Abobo Adjamé.
The newly founded association had launched from August 12th to 13th, 2000, an opinion poll in the National Zoo of Abidjan to estimate the awareness of the visitors for the animal protection actions in Africa which, in everyone's opinion, was a real success.
Since May 2004 MAEP has instituted an annual education campaign called: "Let's give a value to the animals' world” within Abidjan the capital of Cote d’Ivoire, aiming to educate schoolchildren and students about animal welfare issues through drawings, photographs, games, brochures, flyers, films, sketches and poems.
The educational results of the program are very promising and it's been enthusiastically received by teachers, students, parents, and MAEP’s staff.
Program outcomes include:
-
Participants fill up their natural curiosity and creativity about animals.
-
Participants take up new vocation for jobs in touch with animals or have new passion for animals.
-
Participants have access to sound and informative source of materials about animal welfare specially the five freedoms of animals.
MAEP has more than 100 supporters in Cote d’Ivoire and abroad that actively participate in the work of the association and we will continue to raise public support and awareness for the plight of animals in Africa. |
