The Vets Care Club of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Lahore is working under the auspices of Vets Care Organization, Pakistan (VCO). VCO is a non profit, non governmental and non political organization (based on voluntarily working veterinarians) engaged in the technical services for the welfare of animals and uplift of veterinary profession in Pakistan within its limited resources. VCO is dedicated to promote a humane and caring attitude towards all living creatures on earth. We are committed to make a friendly and cruelty free environment for animals in Pakistan.
OVERVIEW OF ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN:
The Vets Care Organisation is directly working on animal health by arranging free animal/veterinary treatment camp in different localities for providing free technical support and medicines to the animals which are being ignored by their owners due to financial problems. A large number of animals have been treated and saved since 2001. We also arrange field days in which lectures on different topics related to animal health, care and management are delivered to farmers. VCO is also working on lab animals and it is member society of International Association against Painful Experiments on Animals (IAAPEA). VCO is member league of International Organization for Animal Protection (OIPA). Under VCO, a Vets Care Club (VCC) is also in operation at UVAS Lahore for creating awareness in veterinary students and involving them in animal welfare work. Seminars on different topics are arranged at UVAS. Electronic and Print Media is also considered to be utilized for creating awareness in general public to make them aware of animal rights.
