| As a vet, I provide a low-cost spaying / neutering servic to ensure all pet owners can act responsibly in helping to reduce the number of stray dogs and cats in our city.
Our Society collects stray animals, treats them as necessary and then once they have recovered from being spayed / neutered we either find new homes for them or we return them to the location from where they were originally collected.
Photo right: This cat underwent an emergency ceasarian section and required extra care. After her recovery a new loving home was found for her.

Photo left: This dog was in a dreadful state having had its paw bitten off, most likely by a fighting breed dog during a fight.
We promote responsible pet ownership to improve the welfare of pets as, on many occasions, the suffering/illness could have been prevented with the correct care and attention. Our work in this area is enhanced by the inclusion of a regular feature in a local newspaper.
We regularly advise councils on animal matters and have been involved in discussions with city officials regarding animal cruelty issues at the city zoo and circus. Sadly, despite our best best efforts, zoo animals that die are simply replaced which is what happened to two elephants not long ago.
We also conduct ongoing humane education programmes, including the publication and distribution of leaflets covering a range of animal welfare issues; advise councils on animal matters.
'Before' and 'After' photos below. Before shot shown in greyscale due to the colour image being even more distressing. A human being was responsible for the dreadful pain this poor kitten endured. His bottom jaw was broken and tongue bitten through and was found in this dreadful state trapped on a balcony very weak and without food or water. |
