OVERVIEW OF ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN:

ACRES is a Singaporean charity founded by Singaporeans in 2001. ACRES aspires to foster respect and compassion for all animals.

Every year ACRES rescues and cares for scores of wild animals. Many have been physically abused or injured. We provide food, shelter and attention for those animals who come into our care. We do our best to rehabilitate them and release them back into the wild. We run our rescue services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our investigations have led to many who flout wildlife protection laws or exploit animals being brought to task. Our campaigns and engagements with the government have led to vast improvements to the welfare of animals and even improvements to national laws.

ACRES believes education is the key to ending animal cruelty. That’s why we work closely with schools and community groups in order to ensure that today’s children grow up with empathy and respect for all animals, as well as each other. Our education programmes reach over 100,000 children and adults every year. They encourage compassion and responsible behaviour, as well as inspiring individuals to make a difference.

Through our volunteer programmes, thousands have joined us in making a difference for animals. Our volunteer opportunities promote volunteerism in Singapore and create a more caring and compassionate society.

In the past financial year, around 92% of funds raised were spent on our Animal Protection Programmes. We have kept our administrative expenses low so that almost every cent of donations goes towards making a difference for the animals.

Over 200 media articles about our efforts have been published in newspapers and magazines, and our work has been featured on television and radio stations both locally and internationally. As of February 2009, ACRES has more than 17,000 individuals on its supporter database.
