CELEBRITY WORLD ANIMAL DAY AMBASSADORS
Anneka Svenska, Maria Daines and Louis Barnett have generously offered to become Celebrity Ambassadors. They will use every suitable opportunity to help encourage participation in World Animal Day and for this we are most grateful. |
|
May 2010 - WE APPOINT A THIRD CELEBRITY AMBASSADOR, LOUIS BARNETT, Britain's youngest entrepreneur, chocolatier, motivational speaker and avid conservationist.
"It is a great honour to have the opportunity to be a Celebrity World Animal Day Ambassador.
We have so little time left to save the many endangered species of animals on our planet. We must take action now if we are to save these remarkable animals, or we can stand back,
do nothing and watch them disappear from our world forever.
Since I launched my chocolate business at the age of 12, I have been striving to raise awareness of the plight of
endangered animals and their ever diminishing habitats. World Animal Day gives us a wonderful opportunity to join together and shout with one loud voice - together we can make a difference!

ANNEKA SVENSKA - WORLD ANIMAL DAY'S FIRST CELEBRITY AMBASSADOR!
‘World Animal Day is a wonderful chance for animal lovers all over the world to come together in solidarity over one extremely important cause. To save and protect the animals on our planet and the delicate environment they live in. Without animals in the world, the world would be a very sad place. We must learn to protect and nurture them and make sure that the world will always stay a place where they can roam free and never become extinct.’
Anneka Svenska, Wildlife Presenter and Conservationist |

"World Animal Day is our opportunity to give the animals of Asia a
voice by spreading the word that they deserve to live in a world
without fear or suffering. Please join me in making a difference by
making choices that will help literally millions of animals across the
world by not wearing fur or buying ivory. Please help the thousands of
bears suffering on bear farms in Asia too – and never buy or consume
bear bile. Finally, please remember that dogs and cats are our
friends, not food or fur, and we are happier and healthier by
embracing them harmoniously into our lives. As Patron of Animals Asia
Foundation, I will be celebrating World Animal Day in the knowledge that we are moving towards a better world for Asia’s animals." Karen Mok - Actress, Singer-Songwriter, Advocate for Asia's Animals |

"I give my wholehearted support for World Animal Day and I hope this compassionate initiative will unite people from all walks of life to help make a difference. Celebrating animals and their capacity to enrich our lives, allows us to reflect on the bigger picture and reminds us that we share this time and place with other living beings who also have feelings and needs that should be met. Indeed, giving something back to our natural environment and our companion animal friends is part of who we are and where we are going in the future. I hope World Animal Day goes from strength to strength in the years ahead.

"The qualities that distinguish humans from animals, other intelligence and moral capacity to make ethical considerations are mainly used by people in their own disadvantage. Man is the only species that destroys its own habitat. In that sense we would do well to show more compassion for animals and willingness to learn the sustainability of the days they lay in the way they organize their lives. The instinct of animals show us the way to a more sustainable society, then the intellect of man.
People who stand up for animals recognize and therefore we have so many great spiritual affinity that many other people do not always understand. Therefore it is good when we work together for animal protection, to work on a better world for humans, animals, nature and environment."
Marianne Thieme, Dutch Political Leader, Party for the Animals |

"The 'Animal Medical Care Foundation' (AMCF) is invaluable for many animals in our world that lead a seemingly hopeless existence. My girlfriend and I have a dog named 'Silver' and when I get home from tournaments throughout the world, I enjoy full drafts of 'Silver' as he once again shows how happy he is that I'm home. 'Silver' gives me a very pleasant feeling and shows more than many o fus what mutual love is. This is a bond that you can have without exception with an animal. I believe EVERY animal is worth more than a "decent" life." Maikel Scheffers, Wheelchair Tennis, 3rd in the world, Bronze Medal in Beijing 2008 Paralympics. |

"World Animal Day makes us more aware of the fact that we should treat animals well. Actually World Animal Day should not be necessary because you need to take care for your animal(s) every day. If you have an animal, you are responsible for his or her welfare. There still needs to be a lot improving on this. I do too. The new horse stables that I have built are very spacious and light and provide enough fresh air. When you continue to deepen yourself in the welfare of the animals, you can respond better to this. An animal must feel happy. In the equestrian world, we use the term 'happy athlete' for this. That does not mean handing out an extra carrot on a day that you really do not have time. You have a horse seven on seven, each day he / she needs exercise and attention. Besides training, it is also important that the horses come out of their stables for other things like walking, going in the meadow, being brushed, etc. My horses come out of their stables four, five times a day. I try to make every day a fun Animal Day for them! " Anky van Grunsven, Dutch Dressge Champion, 3 times Olympic Gold Medal Winner. |

"Animals now exist in a world dominated by mankind. Without help and protection from people, animals are left defenseless in a world that they do not understand and are not equipped to survive in. We need to appreciate the beauty in all living creatures, and we need to do our part to protect them. Without animals, the world would be a sad and dark place, and World Animal Day is a celebration that reminds us of the importance and role of every living creature." Ivy Hsu, actress, singer, TV host and Animals Taiwan Board of Supervisor. |

“As devoted ‘mummy’ to Oscar my Golden Retriever and Hamilton my Samoyed puppy, I feel passionate about supporting World Animal Day. The unconditional love that you receive from animals is priceless and I can't imagine life without them. Unbelievable as it is, some people are cruel to defenceless animals and sadly they have no voice so they need us to take care of them and protect them. World Animal Day is so important as it reminds us to care for all these loving creatures…” Annabel Karmel, leading expert and best-selling author on Baby and Children's food and nutrition. |

Party for Animals Worldwide supporter Melanie C says about World Animal Day.... “On October 4th try and do something to thank and support the dedicated animal organisations that we are lucky to have, whether it’s taking a box of chocolates (for staff!) and some animal treats to your local animal shelter, a simple donation, sponsoring an animal in need or you could send a thank you card to a charity you particularly admire…your thoughts and support will go a long way.” |

'Raising awareness is the first and arguably the most important step
in any campaign. Reminding people worldwide of the importance of animal welfare is paramount. It's also very reassuring to realise that there are so many people on this planet who really care about its inhabitants. You all deserve a huge pat on the back.'
Stephen Leonard BVSc MRVCS, Veterinary Surgeon and Wildlife Presenter |

'I believe that without animals in our lives we would be a very sad bunch of people. The joy that they bring and the unconditional love is amazing - when we walk through our doors after a bad day at work, they are there with a waggy tail and bark, a meow and a cuddle. Humans don't even do that for us a lot of the time.
Please support this amazing cause and let’s make more people become animal lovers, because without them, we would be lost.'
Julian Bennett – TV Presenter |

'How wonderful to have a day to celebrate all the animals in the world. What a lonely, awful place it would be without them. They enrich every aspect of

'Nothing gives me more pleasure than my
dogs, cats, the Highland pony herd in the
surrounding fields, the dogs I meet on walks every
day, the deer wandering through the field, the fox,
rabbits and badgers. Every day I feed the birds and
rejoice in the different species that come flying
in. The animal kingdom brings us such joy and it is
our duty and privilege to repay them with kindness,
understanding and constant vigilance.'

raise awareness in other parts of the world where
animals are often at the bottom of the list. Having
