100 Years of World Animal Day

Our new stamp design and how you can get involved.

Help us to celebrate 100 years of compassion and advocacy for animals!

A beautiful design to mark 100 years

We feel very lucky to have partnered with talented illustrator Emma Jayne, who designed a beautiful stamp for this year’s World Animal Day.

Our theme this year is “Save Animals, Save the Planet”: a celebration of the connection between animal welfare and the health of our planet.

We asked Emma to share the story behind the design:

“When researching this topic I was particularly drawn to the rainforests and the mangroves of Borneo. It struck me just how vital these are for the animals and the people who live there.”

Rainforests and mangroves in Borneo are under threat. Mangroves are important coastal ecosystems that support diverse wildlife, including pygmy elephants, clouded leopards and orangutans.

Industrial farming affects the rainforests and mangroves. They are being logged, burned and cleared for agricultural conversion to palm oil plantations, among other things. Shrimp farming in Borneo’s Mahakam Delta has destroyed a large area of these vital mangroves.

I have illustrated a thriving mangrove on the edge of a rainforest, showing its full beauty when untouched by human impact.”
