2019 World Animal Day at F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Horse Rescue & Sanctuary

We would like to welcome you and your family to come celebrate WORLD ANIMAL DAY at F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Horse Rescue & Sanctuary from 2:00-5:00 pm on Friday, October 4, 2019.

We are located at 19801 Sheridan Street, Southwest Ranches, Florida 33332.

This is a FREE, public event.

We currently house 51 Equine which includes 48 horses, 2 miniature donkeys and 1 hinny. We also have 1 sheep, 6 goats, 6 potbellied pigs, 2 farm pigs and a cat. We would like to introduce you to all of our permenant residents, and share some of their stories with you. Come see the oldest and largest horse rescue and sanctuary in South Florida and take pictures with the animals during this meet and greet.

We are a nonprofit 501 (c)3 organization that was established in 1987 and have been saving horses and farm animals in Florida for more than 32 years. If you like, you can even volunteer while you are here by helping with the daily chores such as stall cleaning, watering, grooming, braiding, feeding and anything else that comes up. You will quickly see the work and dedication it takes to have a horse, and you might even get a glimpse of something you wold like to do long term.

We look forward to meeting you and your family and don’t forget your camera! Please be sure to sign up at https://www.allforgood.org/projects/x85j4LJd

We couldn’t have hoped for nicer weather or a nicer group of people. We had an AWESOME turn out for World Animal Day 2019 at F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Horse Rescue & Sanctuary in Southwest Ranches, Florida. We had over 50 people come out for the celebration. We asked for two hours of help and most of them stayed three to five hours volunteering. They helped dump, scrub and refill water buckets and troughs, groom some of the herd, rake and clean stalls, walkways and the ring. We invited everyone for a “hot dog” lunch and we did have Vegan Hot Dogs. Everyone got involved and did what chores they wanted to do. It’s our secret, if you let the volunteers do what they want to do, and they like what they are doing, they will come back! The workload was spread out which helped get everythig done earlier. Everyone loved the horses, miniature dokeys, the hinny, the goats, the sheep and the cat.  https://youtu.be/AYMUklmSj84
