2022 WAD and National Day Celebration
1st -7th Oct is the National Day Holiday in China. The “golden week” was a great opportunity to hold public campaigns, as everyone went out to have fun in their cities.
Therefore, we held WAD celebrations in both Chengdu and Nanning, at the same time to wish China a happy 73rd Birthday!
Chengdu:
1st- 3rd Oct, we had a public event in CapitaLand (a large shopping mall). As a part of CapitaLand’s “I PET YOU” campaign, more than 10 Dr Dogs and our volunteers celebrated the National Day of China and World Animal Day with about 54,000 people in 3 days!
By inviting the public to play fun games and attend our quiz, we shared knowledge of cat and dog welfare and taught the correct way to interact with dogs, as well as highlighting the responsibilities as a cat/dog guardian. By interacting with our Dr Dogs, the public had a close and happy time with our lovely furry friends.
To arouse the public’s attention to rabies prevention and control, we offered 100 free rabies vaccines to dogs/cats on the last day of the event. Vets on-site also gave the animals free bodychecks.
Nanning:
On 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th of Oct, we held a public campaign in Sheng’s (a large shopping mall). Our event included a class of cat and dog welfare education, and a free bodycheck for cats and dogs offered by professional local vets. A dog playground was set up there too, allowing our energetic furry pals to have a run. The dogs and people who went to the site had a blast!
