AACL Celebrates World Animal Day
In the lead-up to World Animal Day, Animal Anti-Cruelty League Johannesburg (AACL) will concentrate efforts to vaccinate as many pets as possible against rabies during their outreach campaign.
World Rabies Week is from the 26 – 28th September this year. In South Africa it is a legal requirement, in terms of the Animal Diseases Act, 1984, to vaccinate all dogs and cats against this preventable, but fatal disease.
Then on Sunday 1st October, at the start of World Animal Week, we will celebrate all animals with a St Francis of Assisi Pet Blessing, which will be held at the Brackendowns Methodist Church.

We spent a very special morning at the Brackenhurst Methodist Church this past Sunday. It was such fun and what a lovely mix of tail wagging pets were in attendance – from the very large to the very small. There was even a pet tarantula waiting to be blessed! Thank you Reverend Faan Myburgh and Reverend Brian Oosthuizen, for the warm invitation extended once again, to AACL. It was a joy to be there.
