Animal Week at ISV
World Animal Week will be celebrated at the International School of Vantaa and the local public library. For the 3rd year in a row, students will participate in activities that highlight the importance of animal welfare. The library will have themed events such as having a reading buddy dog come on Oct 4 to be with the children. The focus of the school project this year is educating about fair farming practices for egg laying hens. There will be posters, presentations and skits to highlight the benefits of the new legislation that requires more space for hens on farms. Children will also get the chance to express through art and writing exercises their ideas about animal welfare. The week will culminate in an assembly on Oct 10th. A “Change for Chickens” fundraising event will also try to collect some money to sponsor rescued chickens at a sanctuary in the UK.
