Argos Fun Day
On Sunday 6th October, Argos opened its gates for a fundraising family fun day in recognition of World Animal Day.
The day kicked off early at 7.30am for Colin Sewell who started his arduous 125km sponsored bike ride from the gates of the Argos Sanctuary to Zigi harbour and back again. The wind was against him on the way making the ride tough and slow but he picked up the pace on the return arriving safe and sound (albeit with very stiff legs) at 15:30. Colin raised a huge 591.23 euros for his fantastic effort and many paws will benefit from his kind gesture.
At 11.00am the many stalls, refreshment stall, BBQ, pony rides and face painting were open as people started to arrive to enjoy the day. Helena Pringle, Roseanne Sherman and Julia Jones had been busy baking for several days and their delicious cakes and cookies were a big hit. Steve and Carol Bloomfield cooked up a storm at the BBQ keeping everyone well fed throughout the afternoon.
Alex Stylianou, DJ extraordinaire, very kindly gave up his day off work and kept our feet tapping with his background music. The ponies enjoyed the cooler day with the slight breeze as they gave short rides to children and adults. Thank you to Jessica Le-Moine and her two helpers who kindly brought the stunning Diesel and adorable Tingo to the event from the Achna Riding Club. The very talented face painter Aylin Myumyunova gave up her day of cat rescuing in Lefkara village to paint some wonderful animal faces on children and adults alike.
The day culminated in the grand raffle draw, with many happy winners and the sale of a donated Renault Megane car for 500 euros. All in all a great day with a grand total raised of 3,571.30 eruos.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers who manned the stalls and the business who donated to the grand raffle. Finally, thank you to everyone who came to the event and helped to make it a very special day.
