AW Knowledge Promotion through Community Broadcasting for World Animal Day 2014
In order to commemorate World Animal Day (4th October), World Animal Protection Thailand together with Lanna Dog Welfare launched a 1-week education project with 3 municipalities (namely Nonghoi, Sannameng and Sobtia) in Chiang Mai province. The municipality’s health divisions helped finalize the education scripts and facilitated the implementation. Through a local broadcasting, participating village heads read through the short scripts daily for one week to raise awareness of the importance of the 5 Freedoms, pet care, animal sentience and animal welfare. They were encouraged to customize the scripts for increased relevancy as well. Twenty-two villages took part in the activity with an estimated direct beneficiary of at least 1840 animals.
