Blessing of the Animals in Cochabamba Cathedral, Bolivia
The Sunday Mass and Blessing of the Animals, took place at Cochabamba’s Cathedral for the third year in a row, each time with more people and animals, this year with an added grandiose march (“Procesión”) from the Cathedral to the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi. October 4th being St. Francis’ Day, it is only fitting and twofold meaningful, that it should fall on World Animal Day. The Wave of Selfies was also embedded into the event.
Another new participation in this year’s event, was the local Police (which can be seen in the photos) blessing of the dogs trained to help rescue and cure people of many disabilities.
This event is of great meaning to the local population and helps raise awareness for the plight of suffering animals, all over the region, country and World.
