Crustacean Compassion’s Live Webinar with CEO Dr Ben Sturgeon

On Tuesday 4 October, World Animal Day, our new Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ben Sturgeon will be hosting a free online webinar all about Crustacean Compassion and animals like crabs, lobsters and prawns (decapod crustaceans).

It’s a great opportunity to meet Ben, hear all about how the campaign is progressing, and ask any questions you have!

We’re hosting this event on a particularly special World Animal Day, because this is the first World Animal Day where decapods are considered ‘animals’ in law.

The event is 18:00 – 19:00, hosted on Zoom, free to attend and open to all. Click the link to sign up:

Crustacean Compassion is the leading UK organisation campaigning for the humane treatment of crabs, lobsters and other decapod crustaceans.

Despite overwhelming evidence that animals like crabs, lobsters, prawns & crayfish (decapod crustaceans) are capable of experiencing pain, every year millions of these animals are boiled alive, cut up alive, mailed live in the post and more.

This year our work resulted in the inclusion of decapods in the Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act 2022. This is the first time decapods have been officially recognised as ‘animals’ in UK law. Using this as a foundation, we’re turning our attention to other animal welfare laws. We’ll keep working until decapods are fully protected.
