Day of Human-Animal Interactions 22nd Edition #ZIOA22
The 22nd edition of Human-Animal Interaction Day (Ziua Interactiunii Om-Animal / ZIOA) will take place on October 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on the campus of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca (Calea Mănăștur 3-5).
ZIOA is a community-oriented event, aiming to promote optimal attitudes and responsible interactions with animals, prevention of abandonment and of cruelty towards animals, and fostering respect towards humans, animals and environment.
#ZIOA22 edition takes place under the umbrella of the World Animal Day 2022, within a series of events organized by the Faculty of Animal Science and Biotechnology, together with collaborators and student volunteers.
ZIOA22 program is as follows:
- 10:00 – Official opening
- 12:00 – Launch of the children’s book “Alex the Bat and the Town near the Lake” (author Ina Anastasiu).
- 10:00-13:00 – Healthy and fun exercises with dogs / agility.
- 13:00-14:00 – Presentation of teams of people and horses from different activity sectors.
- 14:00-15:00 – Examples of training exercises with working dogs.
- 10:00-16:00 – Educational stands, house fairs, observation activities based on respect for animals, promotion of animal adoption and responsible animal ownership, bird watching in the campus etc.
- 10:30-15:00 – Guided visits to the USAMV Cluj-Napoca Aquarium and Comparative Anatomy Museum (10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30).
The participants of #ZIOA22 are: the Faculty of Animal Science and Biotechnologies, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the USAMV CN Civic Engagement Center, the UBB Vivarium, the UBB Museum of Zoology, associations and schools that promote positive human-animal interactions: Students’ Organization for Nature, Descoper[ Natura Association, Animal Society Bucharest, Green Cats, iCare, NUCA, Noah’s Ark Cluj, Pet Joy Sports, Paracord for Pets, PetAmprent, Romanian Ornithological Society Cluj, EraPET SH Târgu-Mureș, Sirius Animal Rescue, Ham Ham Pet Hotel, Transilvania Baciu Special School, Transilvania Autism Association, CMC Vet Humanitaire Association, Canin Nero Training School and IPJ Cluj Animal Protection Office.
Important note: This edition promotes the welfare and quality of life aspects of animals, through their observation and positive interactions (in the case of dogs). There will be no horse riding sessions, and petting of the animals will be done with the permission of those who accompany them, paying attention to the needs of the animals.
Note for participants with pets (dogs, cats): Pets can only be brought to #ZIOA22 if they have up-to-date vaccinations and do not manifest aggressive behavior towards people and other animals. The owners of the animals are kindly asked to have on them all the elements necessary to ensure the comfort of the animals during the event.
