Sava’s Safe Haven is an animal rescue association in Galati, Romania. In 2012, the Sava family began to build a safe refuge for abandoned animals in a small village on the outskirts of the city. The shelter has been built through donations, without any support from the authorities or local companies.

There are currently 250 animals residing in the shelter – mostly dogs and puppies but also a number of cats who were rescued from the streets.

WORLD ANIMAL DAY – WE CELEBRATED BY EDUCATING PEOPLE.

STOP ABANDONMENT – is one of our most important messages to people, explaining that there are alternatives such as contacting animal rescue shelters.

We will share brochures in schools about life, change and animal welfare!

Sava’s Safe Haven have made efforts to educate people from rural area about the importance of spay/neutering, microchipping and veterinary care!

We made brochures that are already distributed in the local villages helping people to understand the impact of this produceres on each dog’s life and most of all.

People need to understand that “the change” comes from each one of us.

Every female dog give birth to more puppies yearly that further increase the number of strays within the community.

Save the abandoned animals. Stop animal cruelty! – event

Together with the “Grigore Moisil” Gymnasium School in Galați, we carried out the project “Save the abandoned animals. Stop animal cruelty!” on the occasion of World Animal Day (October 4).

The students were waiting for us with thematic drawings for animal protection, and their effort was rewarded with diplomas and awards!

The event was also attended by students from Poland, in Romania within the transnational student mobility project “I am human – I live among humans”. They were pleasantly surprised by today’s event!

We were joined by police officers from the Office for Animal Protection of the Galati County Police Inspectorate, who spoke to the children about how they can report a case of animal abuse and how we should treat animals.

On this occasion, some of the puppies of the “Sava’s Safe Haven” shelter were in the center of attention being pampered by all the children present!

Many thanks to all the people who made this event a real success! We thank the teachers, students, police and parents, and we hope to continue the awareness activities in schools! ❤
