
HESY Animal Shelter Open Day
To celebrate World Animal Day, Helsinki Humane Society (HESY) is holding an official open day at its Animal Rescue Centre. The centre will be open to visitors on October 7 from 12.00pm to 3.00pm
A number of information points will be set up throughout the centre to raise public awareness of different aspects of the society’s activities.
Visitors will be given guided tours of the centre and its facilities and be able to meet some of the dogs awaiting their forever home. The cafeteria will be open where visitors can buy delicious pastries with coffee, tea, or juice. All proceeds will be used to help fund the Animal Rescue Centre.

This year Helsinki Humane Society HESY celebrated the World Animal Day for its 108th time in Finland. To celebrate the day HESY organised lots of events. On Saturday 3rd of October HESY held a neutering event for cats at the Animal Rescue Centre. Veterinarian Satu Olkkonen operated 16 cats, both male and female. On Monday 2nd of October HESY had an info point in the Klaukkala library. On Thursday 5th of October HESY and Friends of Animal Welfare Associations held an event about security chips in Helsinki. During the event, chips were implanted in animals for a low price. Once the chip was implanted, the animal’s data was registered to the database called Turvasiru (Security Chip) service.
On Satrurday 7th of October HESY held an official open day at its Animal Rescue Centre. The centre was open to visitors from 12.00pm to 3.00pm. A number of information points were set up throughout the centre to raise public awareness of different aspects of the society’s activities. Visitors were given guided tours of the centre and its facilities and they had a chance to meet some of the dogs awaiting their forever home. The cafeteria was open and visitors could buy delicious pastries with coffee, tea, or juice. Approximately hundreds of customers payed a visit to our Animal Rescue Centre.
