OIPA Cameroon makes history on World Animal Day

On the 4 of October 2018, OIPA Cameroon joined over 90 countries across the world to commemorate the Word Animal Day.

World Animal Day is a day set to raised awareness about animals welfare in communities, schools etc.  OIPA Cameroon took upon itself to raise awareness’ amongst children about animal welfare and how to love and be kind to animals. It was not just an important day for animals but also for children as they had the opportunity to learn from our volunteers about how we should love and care for animal .It was an interactive teaching and learning process that lasted 2 hours 30 minutes between our team, children and staff  of government bilingual primary school  Bafussam. Many questions were asked by the children and they got satisfying answers.

One of the greatest achievements of the day was the creation of the first ever animal welfare club in Bafussam primary school in the western region of Cameroon.   About 16 children are already registered members of the club.  They have promise to promote animals welfare education through many activities like drama, music, storytelling   etc in school and their communities.  They burst into joy when our volunteer distributed over 50 educational booklets on animal welfare with illustrative pictures on how to care and interact with dogs. The booklet also teaches them how to read the expression of the dogs. The staff of the school thanked OIPA for choosing   their schools to commemorate   this day.  They said we should not just come on days like these but always . We   can read the excitement on the faces of the children. It is  a wonderful day today as  we are not only  hearing  about world animals day  for the first  time   ,but  living and celebrating  it said  the head mistress . Those remarks also marked the end of the celebration which was crowded with group photographs.
