Pet Blessing Service
Greyfriars Kirk in the City of Edinburgh invites families to bring their pets to a special blessing service on Sunday 8th October at 3 pm.
The event includes an informal pet parade around the kirkyard and refreshments. We hope that you and your furry, feathered or scaly friends can join us. Greyfriars Kirkyard was gifted to the City of Edinburgh by Mary Queen of Scots. Before the church was built, the area belonged to the Friars of the Franciscan Order. The friars wore grey habits which led to the church being called Greyfriars. The original painting of Greyfriars Bobby can be seen in the Visitors’ Centre.

Deidre Brock MP gave an excellent speech at the Giraffe Scuptures on WAD17 which was quoted in the ‘Evening News’. Check outhttp://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/giraffes-blessed-at-omni-centre-to-mark-world-animal-day-1-4578499
to read the article. Shaun Morgan was unable to attend due to a virus. The ceremony was attended by Susan Boyle the world famous singer who owns a cat. Although she was invited to the meal in Tony Macaroni’s in the Omni Centre, she was unable to do so as she had just eaten. The police horses from Stewarton were a great attraction, especially the younger horse as he was not too sure of the giraffes.
