
Preventing Dog Bites
The World Animal Day is celebrated each year on 4 October.
This year the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary joins this celebration through an initiative that aims to raise awareness of the population, including children, to a detention responsible pet alert to prevent dog bites.
Realizing the importance of animals in people’s lives and particularly in the psychological development of children and young people, understand develop a playful character action, which aims to promote healthy relationships between them, based on respect and understanding of the needs and behavior of the animal, preventing situations that may endanger children and to ensure the preservation of animal welfare.
In this sense, were invited primary schools which are located near the Parque das Conchas Garden to participate in an event to be held next to the stage area, between the 14.30he 16.30h, where it will be displayed on a leaflet relevant issues of prevention of bites of dogs and this is where a team of veterinarians to provide clarification on health and animal protection to the entire public.
During the event, will be performed a Statement of Compliance with the collaboration of the dogs in Group Intervention Cinotécnico National Guard which will include interaction with animals in order to explain the behavior to adopt towards those animals.
This action, jointly organized by the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary, National Guard and Lisbon City Hall, is framed in the context of developing character actions aimed at teaching children the 1st cycle.
