For eight years in a row, World Animal Day has been celebrated in Velika Kladusa and this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina with numerous activities involving students and teachers of Public Elementary School “25. novembar” Velika Kladusa. This year, the main event was the decoration of the school hallway with educational images and messages about animals (including the WAS logo) by the ninth grade students of this school. In addition, the lower grade students have taken part in the conversation about the necessity of an animal circus ban in this town and region, as well as the entire world, because the animals who are forced to perform tricks are beaten, tortured and starved in these establishments. In the future, educational workshops are planned on teaching the students how to effectively avoid single-use plastic, as it is an enormous pollutant of the environment.
Our media sponsor, the local radio station Radio Velika Kladusa, has published an article about the event, in addition to broadcasting bits and interviews with Ilhana Skrgic, World Animal Day Ambassador for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the students, while a report about the event was also broadcasted on Radio Free Europe. The event has been published on the school website and Facebook.
