The renewal of Finland’s Animal Welfare Act
In celebration of World Animal Day, Helsinki Humane Society (HESY) took part in the event organised by Helsinki Zoo and organised an event to promote the renewal of Finland’s Animal Welfare Act.
On 4th of October we headed towards the Helsinki Zoo to set up an information stall. We gave people information on pets and their proper care and also told what it means to be a responsible pet owner and to commit oneself to an animal. We also talked about animal protection.
On the 6th of October, HESY organised an event to promote the renewal of Finland’s Animal Welfare Act. The Act is going to be renewed next year and HESY informed the public about the importance to renew the current outdated law by arranging a panel discussion where the president and world animal ambassador of HESY talked with the executive manager of Animal protection organization Animalia about the upcoming animal welfare legislation and answered the public’s questions. Our goal is to pass the worlds’ best Animal Welfare Act in Finland.
The event was held at the School of Solakallio. During the discussion the public had a chance to buy vegan pastries in our café and buy osteopathic treatments fort their pets at the Animal Rescue Center (next to the School of Solakallio).
