Vegan picnic (Vege Piknik)
This year’s World Animal Day will be marked in the Shelter for abandoned animals of City of Zagreb in Dumovec, organized by the City of Zagreb and in cooperation with the Animal Friends Croatia. On Saturday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., everyone is invited to spend time together with abandoned dogs and animal protection organizations, but also to taste some great vegan food.
Visitors will be introduced to 7 animal protection organizations and will be able to find out all the ways in which animals should and can be helped. Beside the stands of those organizations, there will be an information stand of the Animal Protection Network which consist of more than 50 organizations from Croatia. Visitors can also expect some fun content for children and a tour of the shelter, with the introduction of dogs and cats waiting for adoption.
Animal Friends Croatia will also organize the tasting of some delicious vegan food and sweets. Umbrellas will be set up with tables and benches for socializing and enjoying free vegan food. A variety of educational materials and vegan cookbooks will be offered for free.
Animal Friends Croatia invites everyone to come and spend time in the shelter, to be part of the celebration of this international day with the aim of promoting animal protection and to be encouraged to fight for the animals every day of the year.

On Saturday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., citizens had the opportunity to spend time together with abandoned dogs, animal protection organizations, but also to taste some great vegan food.
Visitors were introduced to 7 animal protection organizations and were able to find out all the ways in which animals should and can be helped. Beside the stands of those organizations, there was an information stand of the Animal Protection Network which consist of more than 50 organizations from Croatia.
As part of this manifestation, we organized the Vegan Picnic to bring citizens not only plant-based products and dishes but also the idea of veganism. We provided all visitors with free consumption of plant-based food, there were many salty and sweet dishes on offer that could be tasted and eaten on the spot. Citizens were able to get a lot of educational materials and vegan cookbooks, while the volunteers of the organization helped with advice and information. As part of the event, we also set up umbrellas with tables and benches for socializing and enjoying free vegan food.
The event was announced by sending letter to the media and advertising on the website and social networks of the Association. Also, the press conference was held in the premises of City of Zagreb, where our Ambassador Ivana Lunka gave a speech.
