As per the website of the Council of Europe: "The Living Library is a tool that seeks to challenge prejudice and discrimination. It works just like a normal library: visitors can browse the catalogue for the available titles, choose the book they want to read, and borrow it for a limited period of time. After reading, they return the book to the library and, if they want, borrow another. The only difference is that in the Living Library, books are people, and reading consists of a conversation."
The Living Library project has spread to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in its third installment in the town of Velika Kladuša, it again hosted Ilhana Škrgić, World Animal Day Ambassador for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ilhana was presented as vegan and an animal rights activist, and during the event, a number of young students and animal lovers came by and found out more about veganism and an ethical way to treat animals, with whom we share this planet. The young readers were introduced to ways of reducing animal suffering by buying cruelty-free products, saying no to leather and fur, and how to change their diet to a plant-based one, which not only benefits the animals, but also the environment.
