World Animal Day 2021 – End the Cruel Live Animal Export Trade – Market Stall Cotters Market Townsville on Sunday 3/10/21

TALE – Townsville Against Live Export Inc. will have a stall at Cotters Market, Townsville on Sunday 3 October 2021 from 8 am to 1 pm. We will have a petition and postcards to sign calling for an end to the cruel live export trade which last year saw 268,481 cattle shipped from our port for slaughter offshore. We will also have a stall at the Strand Night Markets on Friday 1 October from 5 pm to 9 pm. We are encouraging people to tie an orange ribbon and a tag somewhere to remind people of World Animal Day and the need to end the cruel live export trade which treats living animals as cargo.  Please call by and find out how you can help to #BanLiveExports

TALE- Townsville Against Live Export held a successful stall at our local Cotters Market on Sunday 3 October 2021 to mark World Animal Day and also celebrate the fact that no cattle had been exported from our port the previous month. Visitors to our stall signed postcards addressed to the Australian Prime Minister and the Opposition leader calling for an end to the cruel live animal export trade plus a petition addressed to our parliament.  161,177 cattle were exported from the Port of Townsville in the first eight months of 2021. The photos used on the postcards were taken during the loading of two of the many live export ships that have visited our port to load cattle to be shipped offshore for slaughter. The winner of a fundraising raffle for a beautiful painting donated by a local artist of a cow and it’s calf was drawn at this stall and the money raised will be used to continue our group’s work towards ending all live animal exports from Australia
