Event Description

TALE-Townsville Against Live Export will be holding a stall at Cotters Market  in Flinders Street, Townsville from 8am until 1pm on Sunday 4 October to mark World Animal Day and raise public awareness of the cruel live cattle export trade from our city, which is now Australia's largest live export port, shipping 395,628 cattle to overseas destinations in the 2019-2020 financial year. We will have postcards for people to sign and send to our Prime Minister and a petition calling for an end to the trade. People will be encouraged to share a selfie of themselves with one of the World Animal Day signs and also to tie an orange ribbon with the message #BanLiveExports (either written on the ribbon or on an attached  card) in a public place as part of a campaign organised by the Sydney based organisation Stop the Death Ships to raise public awareness of the live animal export trade.
