Will be discussed, described and explaned the different relationships between men and wolves. In the wolf, the “human dimension” of the animal, which is the cultural projection of the wolf in our psyche and in our society, is the largest ever known for an animal. We can not therefore investigate, manage and protect the wolf in nature, apart from the image of the wolf in society.
THE WOLF IN THE ALPS, THE STORY OF A RETURN

Will be described the biology of the wolf and its important ecological function as predator. It will also be presented the extraordinary recovery that this species has had in Italy. In fact, while in the ’70s the wolf was on the brink of extinction, today he naturally returned, conquered again all the Alps to Friuli Venezia Giulia.

10.15 – NATURALISTIC EXCURSION IN ROSANDRA VALLEY
Guided nature excursion with italian and slovenian speaking guide, which runs along the old route of the former railway, running from 1887 to 1959, which put into communication Trieste with Hrpelje. The excursion wants to be a starting point for appreciating what is now the pedestrian and cycle track named Giordano Cottur: a long route that connects the heart of San Giacomo district and the heart of the Val Rosandra, between urbanity and naturalness that offers many glimpses of urban periphery, of natural landscapes residue of the province, of great works traffic related and of one of the most fascinating protected areas of the territory, the Val Rosandra.
This simple and suitable for everyone excursion, which will occupy the entire morning, is sponsored by TAD Committee and organized by the Natural Reserve of the Rosandra Valley-Dolina Glinščice and WWF Marine Protected Area of Miramare in collaboration with Regional Forest Service – Natural History Educational Centre of Basovizza and Trieste Transportation.
On occasion of Eurobirdwatching, the Lipu section of Trieste will be attend.

At Circolo Pino Burlo, via Frausin 17, The Association “Ciao Ciao Bau Bau Emozioni a Sei Zampe” will explane how to behave and what to avoid for a good relationship with the dogs, and the basic rules of the current regulations to respect. The event is for children aged 5/10. There will be two classes from 10.00 to 11.15 and from 11.45 to 13.00.

20.30 – As exclusive event of the second edition of the World Animal Day 2016, and for the feast of San Francesco d’Assisi, patron saint of Italy, the association Trieste Animal Day proposes to citizenship a moment of MUSICAL CULTURE AT TRIPCOVICH THEATRE OF TRIESTE.
For the occasion will be presented the L. V. Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony (Pastorale) and Prélude à l’après – midi d’un faune by C. Debussy performed by the youth orchestra San Giusto conducted by Maestro Jacopo Brusa.
The actor from Trieste Francesco Gusmitta recites “Cantico delle Creature” and “Fioretto del lupo feroce”.
Delivering of Appreciation Plaque to Dr. Paul Bubich sponsor of the concert.
At the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Francesco Bonifacio, priest, killed in odium fidei on 11 September 1946, he will be remembered with a reading of one of his homilies, and with summary of his biography.
At the end of the concert it will be made a fund-raising for the association Therion Research Group, to support wildlife research wolves projects and other species monitored by the association in the FVG region.”
