WORLD ANIMAL DAY 2020 IN UGANDA
CHILDREN’S EDUCATION AND ART FOR ANIMALS DAY AT BIG FIX UGANDA.
A day of learning about animals and how to be good animal guardians at The BIG FIX in Gulu, Uganda. Children from our local village have been invited to attend a day of learning, story-telling, and artwork to help make them aware of issues affecting animals and how they can help make the world a kinder place. We will provide lunch and refreshments and each child will go home with 5 kg of maize flour, grown in the BIG FIX’s garden, so that their families will have something to eat. The pandemic has caused many difficulties for people in our village and many people are struggling to get enough to eat. We hope to help the families and the children through this event. An art contest will also be held with special cash prizes for the top artists. Animal rights books will also be distributed to all children participating, as well as paper and colored pencils so that they can continue to draw animals when they return home.
FREE VETERINARY CLINICS IN AMURU DISTRICT.
We will provide free vaccinations, de-worming, and dog guardianship education in Amuru Distrit on 28 September 2020.
DOGS ARE AWESOME TRAINING SHOWCASE.
Stars among our Comfort Dog Project graduates will perform in a training showcase which will be videotaped so that people can access the information without gathering in a large group. Each dog-guardian team will demonstrate different training manuvers or ways to have fun playing with your dog and teaching them how to play.
KENNEL ART CONTEST.
Local artists have been asked to enter our kennel art contest. The artists will design each of the kennel rooms to create a soothing and comforting environment for dogs who stay at the hospital or who are with us to be rehabilitated for a new home. 12 artists and their work will be showcased and a contest will be posted on social media channels so that people can vote on the best decorated dog room. The decorations will include painting the interior and exterior of the kennel room and decorating a dog bed.
Our aim is to shine a light on the talented artists in Northern Uganda and to prompt people to think about how to create a soothing and calming atmosphere for a dog who has suffered from injuries, abuse, or neglect. The contest will occur on 3-4 of October 2020.
