World Animal Day 2022 in Uganda
World Animal Day 2022 in Uganda will include the following events, hosted by The BIG FIX Uganda: (1) A Blessing of the Animals. Members of the community are invited to attend with their animal companions and to receive blessings from a member of the clergy who himself is a proud dog dad. (2) The Great Dog Games. Many contests will be held for dogs and their guardians to reinforce and recognize the positive bonds between dogs and humans, including a dog calling contest, best walking on a loose leash, dog who looks the most like the guardian, and “most devoted dog”, among many others. Every dog and guardian will have a chance to win in what has always been a very enjoyable day of celebrating our joyful co-existence with animals. (3) Memorial portraits. The BIG FIX Uganda’s artists will create new memorial portraits of dogs and humans who have transitioned so that those of us left behind will never forget the beautiful bonds they shared and can be inspired to form deep bonds with the animals around us. (4) A radio program will be exclusively devoted to the history of World Animal Day, celebrations around the world, and why the day is important for humans everywhere. (5) Free rabies vaccinations and veterinary serivices will be provided on World Rabies Day in Amuru District, 28 September, as part of our week of celebration for the animals leading up to World Rabies Day.
Other activities and programs will be announced as they are finalized. For more information, please contact us at info@thebigfixuganda.org.
