This event was the first one organised in Florence, Italy, which is where World Animal Day began all those years ago, so they were delighted to be hosting this. The event took place in a redesigned ex-prison space, which is now housing, cafès and public spaces. The associations all had stands set up in the main square, and the opening took place in the square across the way which had tables and chairs set up for everyone outside the large cafè there. The event then went on to include a walk open to the public with their dogs, along the river, led by volunteers from one of the associations, and a visit to a large, new dog rescue facility which is set in a park. Then after lunch there were several mini conferences run by various associations, which was held inside an area for conferences within the cafè complex. All in all, everyone was totally satisfied and they are already planning what can be improved for next year.
