World Animal Day in Trieste, Italy
The event this year will be held at Molo IV, the congress centre, Trieste, starting at 9am on Sunday 1st October with an opening ceremony at which the Mayor and other politicians will be present.
Our testimonial this year is Andrea Morello of Sea Shepherd in Italy. At 10am all the associations taking part will open their stands to the public. Entrance is free of charge.
There will be vegan food stalls, mini-conferences on different subjects but with animal welfare as their main theme, games, demonstrations, face painting and hair plaiting for the children. The scouts are also offering theme games and a building construction in true pioneer style, and the veterinary clinic of San Giacomo will have their vets on hand to answer questions about animals. There will be lots of things to buy or see on the various stands.
Throughout the day, there are also other activities taking place outside Molo IV, like walks and life saving displays by the dogs of the Life Care Academy. In the evening there is a conference with the sea and its conservation as its theme. On the 4th October instead, there will be displays of dog handling by the police dog handlers and the finance police handlers.
After this, there will be an animal blessing to take place in the square in front of the church in San Giacomo, at which there will be a choir singing. This will be followed by the closing ceremony.
