Massive low cost spay/neuter clinic
On March 11th SASY! and Animalitos Abandonados organized a massive low cost spay/neuter clinic in the low income neighborhood of Tejarcillos, Alajuelita in the outskirts of San Jose, Costa Rica. Ninety-four animals were spayed/neutered, dewormed, groomed, given medication and vitamins and some animals were also treated for other ailments.
Diana Holder, Costa Rica’s World Animal Day Ambassador, walked around the poor neighborhood giving out flyers and happened upon a junk yard with 3 female dogs (none spayed) tied to the car bumpers. One had a nasty injury to her neck and was emaciated so she convinced the owner to bring her dogs to the clinic. Fortunately she brought a total of seven to be spayed/neutered and the injury was treated as well. One of them was in heat and had a massive uterine infection which she would have 
died of if she hadn’t been spayed. Success!! The next step is to try and convince the owner to give them all up.
