Seminar at Duhok University, Kurdistan
KOARP is actively building upon the pioneering projects funded by the 2016 World Animal Day grant by: conducting regular interventions at abattoirs, markets and pet shops; holding seminars at colleges, private zoos etc.; lobbying decision makers; enlisting the help of key stakeholders; pursuing media opportunities to relay further information, etc.
These three images were taken in April at a seminar held at Duhok University. The seminar was organised by KOARP for a large group of volunteers to discuss the situation of animals in Kurdistan and Iraq, with a special focus upon animal suffering in pet shops, abattoirs and markets. The seminar was the first step towards building a working relationship with the group of volunteers who are keen to get involved and help KOARP make significant and sustained progress in improving the lives of Kurdistan’s animals.
