Tea garden highlights animal welfare
Republic Day of India is celebrated on 26th January. To mark this special day, People for Animals Siliguri held a free animal health check-up and vaccination camp at the Motidhar Tea Garden in Phansidewa, Dist. Darjeeling.
The event took place in the middle of Animal Welfare Fortnight which is celebrated across India every year in January to create public awareness about the prevention of cruelty and the importance of humane treatment to animals.
The event was a huge success. More than 250 cows, goats, dogs, calves and hens were health checked and received the necessary veterinary care. Anti-rabies and Foot & Mouth Disease vaccines were administered. Alongside the camp, society members educated the villagers about how to take proper care of their animals.
