Working to develop passion and respect for animals in the next generation
Dear friends
For centuries, children have been taught that animals are different from humans, rather than what they both have in common. The children grow up seeing their parents and relatives abusing animals and no one gives a damn. These children imitate and grow up with these abusive attitudes and behaviors towards animals.
Liberia Animal Welfare & Conservation Society (LAWCS) believes that education is key to ending animal cruelty and creating a just and caring society where both animal and human welfare matter. It is important that children enjoy the process of learning as they are more likely to retain information and to associate these happy feelings with the animals that share our world. LAWCS therefore uses informal methods of teaching and involves the children in drama and role play, discussions and debate, video shows, humane lessons, stories, games, animal welfare clubs, free vegan food, exhibitions, media talk-shows – all of which encourage them to form their own positive opinions and attitudes to the animals in their lives. These activities and programs enable children to gain a richer understanding of animals in our world and a sense of how they can treat them as fellow beings, with empathy, compassion, innate love and respect.
If the next generation develops passion and respect for animals and they are prepared to care for them in a responsible way, then surely the incidents of animal suffering will diminish in the long-run. We hope that the use of the program created by LAWCS will help children realize that animals experience life in much the same way we do. In doing so, we will be helping the children make the world we share a better and richer place for all of us.
The Liberia Animal Welfare & Conservation Society cannot continue this initiative without your generous support. LAWCS is raising funds to continue this initiative and also expand it to many schools in order to reach the larger society.
Your donation is highly anticipated. Donations can be received through our webpage at www.liberiaanimalwelfaresociety.org or paypal.
