Children take part in an Animals Asia event in China celebrating World Animal Day, featuring colourful displays about pet care and rabies prevention.

Celebrating World Animal Day in China

In the lead-up to World Animal Day, Animals Asia hosted a series of inspiring public awareness events across Nanning (Guangxi) and Guangzhou (Guangdong) to promote compassion for animals and responsible pet ownership.

The activities, held on September 27th, focused on cat and dog welfare, as well as rabies prevention and control. Families, children, and passersby joined in fun quiz games and received informative leaflets, learning how to care for their animal companions responsibly.

At the Nanning event, 100 free rabies vaccinations were provided for cats and dogs, administered by on-site veterinarians who also offered basic health check-ups.

The celebrations continued from October 1st to 7th, coinciding with China’s National Day holiday. In Nanning, Animals Asia invited the public to “click for kindness” by lighting up an electronic billboard to support local stray animal groups. The response was overwhelming – over 60,000 clicks were recorded, resulting in the donation of 600 kg of cat and dog food to two local animal welfare organisations.

These creative campaigns not only celebrated World Animal Day but also strengthened community understanding of animal welfare, highlighting the importance of kindness and responsibility towards companion animals in everyday life.
