Animal Caring Ambassador Programme 2015 -2016
The 10-month long SPCA (HK) Animal Caring Ambassador Programme (ACAP) for primary school ended in June 2016. Each participating school provided a team of two teachers and eight to twelve “ambassadors”. Points were gained by each school for activities at different levels of challenge and the school with the highest overall score was awarded the SPCA Animal Caring Champion Cup.
The programme incorporated learning elements appropriate to the local primary school curriculum for Moral and Civic Education chosen to encourage the values and attitudes of perseverance, care, respect, responsibility and commitment.
Twenty primary schools joined the programme, spreading its message to more than 10,000 students. The ACAP student ambassadors not only learned about animal-welfare-related issues themselves, but importantly they helped raise awareness of them at their schools through activities such as exhibitions, films shows, poems, animal story-sharing etc.
The SPCA held a closing ceremony on 26 June 2016 to show its appreciation for the enthusiastic involvement of students, teachers and parents. By focusing on the young generation, we are confident that ACAP will help change attitudes in Hong Kong to the welfare of animals.
